Strong Partnerships Make a World of Difference … NGO Napertskala

AFG chooses its Georgian Partners for their reliability, creativity and dedication. We met Dalisa Kukuladze and her NGO Napertskala (Spark) in 1998.

- At first, AFG’s support to Dalisa’s home-based school for mentally disabled orphans helped her to teach 25 orphans (ages 10 to 20) on weekends. Her students mastered many life skills, from personal hygiene to artistic expression, and performed puppet shows all over Tbilisi. Toys sold generated funds to go back into their program.

- In 2004, the Geneva Initiative in Psychiatry (GIP) purchased an apartment for the school and Dalisa sold her summer home for $13,000 to pay for renovations. Dalisa plans to offer a full week program: her new building will have a gift shop and exhibition space, and she wants to establish craft workshops to offer graduates a way to earn a living. Dalisa needs funds for teacher salaries, heating and further renovations.

- For the 2nd year in a row, one “American Friend” funded a summer camp program for Dalisa’s kids, who were very excited to have a 3-week country holiday!
