American Friends of … Shotiko
“My name is Shotiko Dzabakhidze. I am 8 years old and I am in my room at the hospital because I have meningitis. I love to draw. So does my doctor, Dr. Tengis Gvasalia."
Dr. Gvasalia, a talented, dedicated physician, cares deeply for his young patients. Though he rarely smiles when with adults, he is playful and affectionate with his young patients who adore him. He draws portraits of each patient to hang by their beds.
TB, a family disease, is an ongoing problem in Georgia. Shotiko is one of 22 children undergoing treatment at the Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital << http://www.afgeorgia.org/afg_projects/c_tuberhosp.htm>>. AFG assists with medicines, medical equipment and renovations.
