Support for Children
with Leukemia
Each year, more than 60 Georgian children are diagnosed with leukemia or lymphoma, and due to poor infrastructure and economic conditions in Georgia, the recovery rates are much lower than in the rest of Europe.
AFG works to provide care to the afflicted children and support their families. Through our consistent work, AFG has established a long-running relationship with the Hematology-Oncology Center in the Iashvili Children’s Hospital in Tbilisi, the only facility in Georgia where children with leukemia and lymphoma are treated.
ABOUT
AFG provides funding for state-of-the-art equipment, an art rehabilitation program, and a parent’s house where families of children undergoing care are given accommodations and a home-like environment. The parent’s house, constructed with the help of AFG in 2010, is the only facility of its kind in Georgia and allows families to focus much more on the things that are much more important during a long and difficult treatment.
